men covering eyes from laptop screen - stop watching porn

It’s estimated that about 8 million Americans visit adult websites daily as reported by Wifitalents.com. Astoundingly, porn consumption has crept up to become a worldwide epidemic. Based on global views, a top adult site reports that about 2.15 million daily website visits come from Australian viewers.

According to ZipDo Education Reports (2025), โ€œ87% of young men and 31% of young women have viewed pornography by age 18โ€. The same report also notes that โ€œApproximately 70% of men and 30% of women watch pornography regularlyโ€ and that โ€œaround 68% of men and 30% of women admit to watching pornography at least once a weekโ€.

New York Post article, (โ€œHow porn can literally change your brainโ€ โ€“ April 2025), published on April 19, 2025, says that researchers have found frequent porn use is linked to: bodily desensitization with up to 23% of men under 35, [who regularly watched porn reporting erectile dysfunction during real-life intercourse] caused by excessive porn viewing.

The study reveals how these male subjects, who frequently watched pornography, described some level of erectile dysfunction when having sex with a realโ€‘world partner (with a significant statistical relationship between higher porn use and increased ED symptoms). These findings are based on a 2020 European Association of Urology (EAU) international survey.

Not only does porn affect your habits, it can literally change your brain for the worse. Studies reported by Phys.org, Science News Today and Frontiers, reveal that heavy porn use has been linked to shrinkage in the parts of your brain responsible for motivation, self-control and decision-making. In other words, the more porn you watch, the harder it can become to stay focused, disciplined or even motivated in real life. Basically, continuous porn consumption can make you feel like a worthless “couch potato” all day and every day.

Looking at porn also messes with your brain’s reward system. Over time, your brain gets numb to normal pleasure, pushing you to seek more extreme content just to feel something. Thatโ€™s how addiction can quietly build up like a chokehold (not with a sudden crash, but with slow mental changes you donโ€™t even notice until itโ€™s already taken a toll).

This isnโ€™t just theory. This porn data comes from brain scans and peer-reviewed research, covered by sources like Psychology Today, News.com.au, and even the New York Post.

Bottom line: People believe that porn brings pleasure. But, it actually brings pain and problems. Porn might seem harmless at first, but behind the scenes, it could be silently wrecking havoc on you by rewiring your brain in harmful ways that make your life worse โ€” not better.

Here’s something that most people don’t know… Consuming porn will literally cause you to self destruct. This is because pornography erodes your brain and totally distorts your way of relating to people especially sexually. You will begin to dehumanize even those around you — seeing people as sexual objects to be used up and thrown away.

Another problem is that many of the pornographic scenes involve graphic violence. Viewers of porn movies also develop a “tolerance” for perversion, and so just like a drug addiction, they have to watch darker, more sick and twisted content in order to get their “fix” or to reach climax while masturbating. But, watching porn is like falling into a bottomless pit of filthy fetishes that can never be satisfied.

And so regular watching of that dirty content will definitely cause a person to begin to act and think exactly like a predator (just like in the scenes shown). This is one of the many reasons why watching porn is so dangerous and destructive. Porn can trap both your mind and body [into a spiritual prison of nastiness and perversion] that will surely infect every area of your life like a fatal cancer.

But, God always provides a way of escape from every temptation. So when you trust in The Most High, He will help you to gradually stop consuming porn. It all begins with a decision to stop watching porn.
